Remembering Kenneth Lee Haveman

Kenneth Lee Haveman, age 67, of Hudsonville, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 6, 2016. He was a retiree of Steelcase after 30 years in fire protection. He was a volunteer fireman for Georgetown Township Fire Department for 26 years and also for Blendon Township Fire Department for 6 years, serving as fire chief. He had a servant’s heart and loved to help others. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 40 years, Isla; children and grandchildren, Sara and Joseph Coates (Matthew, Luke), Lora and Brent Hendriksen (Jacob, Carter), Kraig Haveman; parents, Gerald and Sadie Haveman; sister, Bev and Ken Boeve; brother, Kevin and Kelly Haveman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Carol Essenburg, Ruth and Jim Sikkema, Arlyn and Bev Essenburg; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry and Kelvin. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday 1 pm at Georgetown Christian Reformed Church, 6475 40th Ave., Hudsonville, with Rev. Marc Nelesen officiating. Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 4-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Wednesday from 12-12:45 pm at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Unity Christian High School Tuition Assistance Fund.
