Ken Wylie, born July 29, 1932, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025, at his home in Wyoming, Michigan. Proud of his service in the U.S. Army, Ken carried a deep sense of honor and commitment throughout his life. Ken found joy in the small things—the peace of fishing at Hardy Dam, the majestic landscape of Colorado, and the vast waters of Lake Michigan. He was happiest outside, spending time by the water on a sailboat or fishing, or taking in the beauty of the mountains. A natural entertainer, Ken had a gift for laughter and connection. He had an extraordinary ability to put people at ease through humor, forming instant bonds that turned strangers into friends. He carried this same warmth toward children, delighting in their curiosity and energy—always ready with a joke, a smile, or a bit of lighthearted teasing that left them giggling. He loved playing cards, listening to live music, and sharing jokes with those around him. Faith was central to Ken’s life, and his love for the Lord and Jesus Christ was unwavering. He was preceded in death by his mother, Zelda Mae Wylie (née Blair), father, Harvey G. Wylie; brother, Bob Wylie; sister, Joyce Wentzloff; brother, Don Wylie; sister, Kathy Hollebeck, and brother, Roger Wylie. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Cynthia Wylie; his children, Deb and Jim Densberger, Jill Wenger, Jack and Jeany Wylie, Julie and Red Pummell, Dena Wylie and Joe Welch, and Lacey and Chad Thorner; as well as 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. His legacy also lives on through his many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, each carrying with them memories of his kindness and laughter. Ken dedicated over 32 years to his career as a transportation executive and salesman at H.H. Cutler before retiring. Once retired, he volunteered with the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol through Wyoming Police Department and attended many games and school events at Godwin Schools. His presence at school events and sports games became a treasured fixture—he never missed a chance to cheer on his family, and he had an uncanny ability to remember the names and faces of students far beyond his own loved ones. Ken would love to be remembered through your stories that bring laughter, music that stirs your soul, time spent outdoors appreciating nature, and the laughter, joy, and zest for life that only children can bring. His funeral will be held at Grace Reformed Church, 3330 Burlingame Ave SW, Wyoming, Michigan, 49509, on July 14. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM with the service following at 1:00 PM and a light luncheon to follow. Ken will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, and the love he shared with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.
