It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Kathryn Vantil, who passed away in Wyoming, Michigan. Kathryn was born on July 27, 1961, and lived a life marked by resilience, determination, and quiet acts of love. 

Kathryn was a woman of remarkable strength. Life brought its share of challenges, and she met them with perseverance and resolve. Those who knew her best knew they could count on her. She was steadfast, loyal, and someone who always had your back.

In her later years, Kathryn found her greatest joy in her grandchildren, who quickly became the center of her universe. She treasured every opportunity to spend time with them, coloring together, laughing, and creating simple memories that meant the world to her. They brought out a special light in her life, and nothing made her smile more than being "Nana."

Proud of her Dutch heritage, Kathryn loved visiting the Dutch store and embracing the traditions she grew up with. During the holidays, she especially enjoyed the simple pleasures of community traditions, like guessing games with jars full of jellybeans or coins. She found joy in celebrating life's little moments and creating memories with those she loved.

Kathryn was known for her thoughtful handwritten cards and notes. Whether it was a birthday, holiday, or simply because someone was on her mind, she found joy in sending mail that brightened another person's day. She also loved making lists and staying organized. There was almost always a notebook nearby, and crossing items off her list brought her a sense of accomplishment. Those who knew her well will undoubtedly smile remembering the notebooks, lists, and careful planning that were so distinctly Kathryn.

Beneath her practical nature was a heart of gold. Her love was expressed through loyalty, generosity, and quietly showing up for the people she cared about. Kathryn leaves behind a legacy of resilience, unwavering devotion to her family, and countless quiet acts of kindness that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by lovingly remembered by her children, David and Courtney Agema, Michelle and Marshall Warkentin, Stacy Aalderink and Randy Bales, Kenneth Agema, Betsy Leaf; 13 grandchildren; siblings: Deb and Wayne Lechman, Barb and Doug Koetje, Marilyn Sanders, Sandy and Brad Wilde, John Slendebroek, Angela Slendebroek, Matt and Jody Slendebroek, Luke and Ametta Slendebroek, Josh Slendebroek, and Maria Zavala; and was preceded in death by  her parents, John and Harriet Slendebroek.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Rosewood Reformed Church, 2795 Rosewood St., Jenison, MI 49428, on Thursday, August 6, beginning at 11:00 am. In honoring Kathryn's life, her family invites all who knew and loved her to join them in celebrating the memories, traditions, and enduring love she leaves behind.
