Kathleen Ruth Westmaas, age 90, of Ripon, California, formerly of Grandville, was peacefully called into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. Kathleen was a loving wife, mother, sister, and a faithful and loyal friend who lived out her faith by example. She was blessed with a servant’s heart and always put others before herself. Kathleen was a gifted painter making many beautiful portraits for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger E. Westmaas; son, Jeffrey Westmaas; brother, Gerald and Adriana Miedema; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herb DeJonge, Bob Zickus, Betty Miedema. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Dawn Westmaas; brothers, Clarence Miedema, David and Carolynne Miedema; sisters-in-law, Mary DeJonge, LaVerne Zickus; many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Rick VanderWall officiating. The burial will take place at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to Community Hospice of Stockton, CA (hospiceheart.org) and Mel Trotter Ministries. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers of Community Hospice for the love and compassionate care given to Kathleen.
