Kathleen Smith

Kathleen Smith, 73, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Kathleen was born in Flint, MI to the late Donald and Glenna Warne. She relocated to Williamsburg, MI where Kathleen met the love of her life, Dennis. Together they lived in Traverse City, MI, later some time in Naples, FL, before deciding to finally locate in Grand Rapids, MI to be closer to family. She loved wildlife, especially birds and found her greatest joy in having her lap dog near by. Gifted with a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, she had a contagious personality that was deeply loved by all who knew her. She had an artistic eye and enjoyed painting, singing and playing her organ, sharing her creativity with those around her. Over the years, she enjoyed golfing alongside her husband, Dennis, and cherished taking long drives together. In her earlier years, she excelled in archery, collecting several trophies— a testament to her determination and skill.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dennis Smith Sr. Kathleen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dennis Jr. and Amelia Smith, Scott and Nancy Smith; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Krogel; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Susan Smith, Vicky and Joe Mikula, Tina and David Smith; several loving nieces and nephews.  Memorial services will be held 11 am Saturday, January 24, 2026,  at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont, with Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
