Kathleen Marie (Applegate) VanderMeulen, age 70, of Hudsonville, formerly of Caledonia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, December 17, 2021. She was preceded in death by husband, Jake VanderMeulen; grandson, James Robert Sinke; brother, Robert Applegate; parents, Robert and Evelyn Applegate. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Michelle (Mike) Saborowski, Angella (James Gork) Sarver, Julie (Brian) Korf, Robert (Shannon) Zawacki II; 9 grandchildren, Cody (Stephanie), Skylar, Haydyn, Haylie, Hunter, Holden, Brenna, Hannah, Austin; her fur baby, Bailey; brothers and sisters, James (Helen) Applegate, Ronald (Bonnie) Applegate, Susan (Scott) Reuss, Mary (Doug) Henderson; and many nieces and nephews. Kathi enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, softball and playing pool. A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Caledonia) 616 E. Main Street, Caledonia, MI. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Southkent Veterinary Hospital.

Kathi was my golf partner for 20 years as well as a coworker at L3. She could always make me laugh no matter how tough a day I’d had at work and I will always remember her for that and her gift of friendship.

I'm So Very Sorry for the families loss. Remembering what a friendly soul she was in school. Always fun loving. Tho we didn't hang out outside of school, I always enjoyed her company. Glad I had a chance to connect with Kathy, this year, at our 50th Class reunion (2020 held in 2021). Rest in Peace Kathy...will always remember you fondly.
