Kathleen E. Whitney

Kathleen Whitney, age 85, of Caledonia, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, James and son, James L. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Greg and Denise Whitney, Eric and Pam Whitney; daughter-in-law, Debbie Whitney; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Ashley, Rob, Megan, Jake, Rachel, and Michelle; 5 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Lou Dowsett; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don and Ellie Whitney, Helen Moreland, Martha Whitney, Margaret Moon; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 2 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Kentwood) 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family for one hour before the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.

Aunt kathy always told me I was the daughter she never had, after my mom died she said I don't think Peggy would mind if you are my daughter now & I agreed. Aunt Kathy was a wonderful person. She will be sadly missed by us. I remember the fun we had at family reunions , laughing and giggling. Enjoying family games as we participated. She is already learning the next new adventure. God bless you Aunt Kathy

To the Whitney Family, I am so sorry for the loss of Kathleen. I know that dealing with death can be one of the hardest things that we can deal with in life. I know Words can only do so much in a time like this, but please take comfort from gods word at Isaiah 26:19- " Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake a shout joyfully you residents in the dust! The earth will let those powerless in death come to life!" The bible promises a resurrection right here to earth!
