Kasper Komdeur, age 82, of Jenison, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 17, 2021, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Groningen, Netherlands, and came to the United States where he met his beloved wife, Thea. Together they settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and had seven children. Kasper’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was preceded in death by his children, Brenda Komdeur, Jodi Eikenhout, and Philip Komdeur; granddaughter, Miranda; Opa and Oma Komdeur; Opa and Oma Maas; and brother-in-law, Henry. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Thea Komdeur; children, Karen and Mark Mastbergen, Ingrid and Martin Ekins, Jennifer and Ron Timmer, Paul Komdeur and Anna Wizner-Komdeur, Denise and Nathan De Jong; son-in-law, Dennis Eikenhout; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry and Beth Komdeur, John and Eleanor Komdeur; sisters, Judy Jagt, Grace and Henry DeJong; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Mary-Margaret Maas, Jacobus Maas; and several nieces and nephews. Please join us to celebrate Kasper’s life on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. with Rev. Larry Doornbos officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday, July 21, from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Potter’s House.
