Karen VanHeyningen

Karen Lee VanHeyningen, age 74, of Jenison, passed away peacefully to be in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 13, 2020, after a three year battle with lung cancer. Karen was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She has a heart of gold and truly cared about the people in her life. It has been said of Karen by her granddaughter, Precious, “Of all the people I know, I know exactly where she is going, because of her strong faith.” She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Arthur (Kimberly) Oberg, Kristen (George) Prisecaru, Sharmell Pearson; grandchildren, George K, Aaron, Morgann, Nicole (Precious), and Cassius; great-grandchildren, Cali and Zora; sisters, Sandy McCall and Joyce Piccard; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Harvey Heneveld officiating.  Due to gathering limitations, you are encouraged to watch the service via livestream at www.mkdfuneralhome.com; scroll down to the bottom of the home page and click the “Join Live Service” link.  The burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may celebrate Karen’s life with her family on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a limit to the number of people who will be allowed to enter at one time. Memorial contributions may be made to Compassion International.
