Karen Sue Karsten, age 56, of Hudsonville passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, after a short struggle with ALS, on Saturday, January 27, 2018. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Sitzema. Karen will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 35 years, Bill; she will be dearly missed by her daughters, Melissa Karsten, Shalee and Dick Walters; granddaughter, Emmalee Walters; her father, Roger Sitzema; brothers, Tom Sitzema and Mark Sitzema; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Pete and Jean Karsten. Thank you to the special care givers for the family, Sharon DeJonge, Robin Morren, Joyce Tripp, Mary Borucki, and Jana Gale. A memorial gathering celebrating Karen’s life will be held Wednesday from 4-5 pm at Daybreak Community Church in the Student Building, 3501 Baldwin St., Hudsonville with a celebration of life service at 5 pm. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Susan Mast ALS Foundation.

So many years ago Karen Sue’s Mom and I went to school together K-12 . We grew up in our little town and church together. I remember when Karen was born. I am so sorry for your loss.
