Karen Ryan

On Tuesday, October 13th, 2020, Karen Marie Ryan, loving mother and aunt passed away at age 65.  She was born on December 13th, 1954 in Grand Rapids, Mi to Ben and Marge Batenburg. Karen married her soul mate Greg Ryan in July of 1999 and raised her daughter Allison Hanks.  One of her proudest achievements was becoming a Master Plumber and motivational speaker for women. She remained a very handy woman throughout her life and took great pride in being able to fix just about anything. 

Karen was an exceptionally fun-loving woman, who loved to laugh and enjoy life. Karen was a very strong-willed person who knew exactly what she wanted and was never afraid to go for it. She enjoyed gardening, collecting rocks and loved watching the hummingbirds return every year. Karen also enjoyed boating and being on the water, as well as having a great fondness for lighthouses. She had a heart of gold and was always there to help anyone in any way she could. Her daughter Allison loved her with all her heart, but Karen made it known that she would always love her daughter more. 

Karen was preceded in death by her father Ben, her mother Marge, and her husband Greg. 

She is survived by her daughter Allison Hanks (Miles). Her sister Barb Niewiadowmski (Jerry) and her children Ben (Kelly), Mike (Crystal), Chris (Miranda), Samantha and her son J.J. Her brother E.J. Batenburg (Stephanie) and his children Earl (Lauren), Eric (Brittany) and Ben (Erin). Her sister Margie Proper (Scott) her daughter Traci Schrader (Matt) and their daughter Revena. Mary Proper and her daughter Jessie. Her sister Toni Ringler (Brent) and their children B.J. and Erika, her good friend Dee MC, and many great nieces and nephews. 

Per Karen's wishes cremation has taken place.  No services will be held at this time.
