Karen Potter

August 23, 1939 ~
January 4, 2026

Karen Kay (née Snyder) Potter, born August 23, 1939, only a sinner saved by our loving God’s amazing grace, passed away on January 4, 2026, at the age of 86. “The Old Rugged Cross” made all the difference!  John 3:16-17.

Karen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Gary Jay Potter, who she greatly missed every day since he passed away.  She is survived by their children, Kimberly and Thomas VanderKlay, Victoria Potter, and Darci Jaye and Ross VanderKlok; as well as cherished grandchildren, Brock and CaraLynne VanderKlay, Audra and Corey Kross, and Chase VanderKlay; and beloved great-grandchildren, Kiana, Tate, Theo, Isaac, Ashlyn, Anden, and Carter. Karen thanked God that she was abundantly blessed with her loving family and she was always happiest when she was at home with them.

Karen was also preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Anna Snyder; siblings, Russell Snyder, Arlene Hogan, Joyce Pike, and Ronald Snyder; parents-in-law, Gerrit and Winifred Potter; and brothers-in-law, Charles Dittman, and Warner Pike. Surviving are her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda Snyder, Robert and Hermina Potter, and Linda Dittman; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Karen was a member of Beverly Reformed Church for many years. She was thankful to her church family for their love and many prayers on her behalf. She has requested a private memorial and graveside service held next to her husband, Gary, attended by those who loved them the most - their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

If anyone wishes to make a contribution in her memory, Karen suggested St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Matthew 19:14  Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”).

Our deepest sympathy to the Potter Family upon the passing of your dear mother. Karen was always the sweet, kind, and thoughtful person anyone would desire to have as a neighbor. Your mother was exactly that as I remember her when we were your neighbors on Mohave Ct. in Grandville. May our Heavenly Father grant you peace and comfort during this difficult time. Blessings on you, Lois Spoelman, Chari Spoelman Brink, Dan Spoelman and Kurt Spoelman.
