Karen Jean McCarty

Karen Jean McCarty, age 79, of Grand Rapids passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Karen loved being active outside, including running, gardening, biking, and hiking. She was an avid reader. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sherry (Bob) Bush, David McCarty, Wanda (Dan) Alberta, Lori (Joe) Reidt, Brenda McCarty, Debora (Ray Sleet) McCarty, Anthony McCarty; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Joyce (Richard) Douglas; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Gerritt Jr., Howard, Lawrence, and Daniel DeKorte, Susan Palmer. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Wesley Park United Methodist Church, 1150 32nd St. SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Dean Prentiss officiating. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Aunt Karen you will be missed & thank you for helping my mom take care of my boy years ago when I was not able to. Tell my mom & everyone else up there in heaven Hi luv & miss them as well. Now you all behave up there & don't cause to much trouble for the good lord lol.

Mom you're gonna be so missed by us kids.You were our strong link and showed us that we can be strong, we are independent, we can do whatever if we set our minds to it, but some may disagree and call us stubborn & pigheaded!! What do they know?! You never gave up the fight against cancer! For that I will admire your strength and courage. I will take from you the strength and courage and battle my own cancer! Will always love you and will continue to tell you that every day!! Love you, mom!!

I am very sad to hear Karen has died. I am glad I had the opportunity to know her personally. I pray all of her family will feel peace and comfort especially Tony who is the only one I know personally.
