Judith Benninger

Judith Ann Benninger, age 83, of Jenison, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 26, 2025. Judy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was marked by love, generosity, and care for others. She found joy in gathering her family around the table for lunches and dinners, where her gift for hospitality shone. Judy and Don shared a love for camping in their motorhome, traveling on cruises, and cheering on their favorite sports teams. After Don’s passing, sports became an even greater source of comfort for her, bringing back cherished memories of the time they shared together. She especially loved following the Detroit teams and the Michigan State Spartans, carefully planning her schedule around games so she wouldn’t miss a moment. Above all, Judy treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and meaning to her life. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Don;  parents, Frank and Dorene Scott; and sister-in-law, Jackie Benninger. She will be dearly missed by her fur baby, Toby; children, Brenda and Mark Campbell, Kim and Darl Nelson, Tammy Benninger-Walsh, Kathy and Mike Ryktarsyk, Kelly and Joe Cleveland; grandchildren, Karen Berghorst, Kristin and Patrick Nesbit, Lucas and Carolyn Hoezee, Derek and Cate Nelson, Tony and Laura Nelson, Rylee Walsh and fiancé, Jake Haverkamp, Chris and Katie Fite, Ashlyn and Andrew Stein, Allison and Peter Momber, Tyler and Kait Cleveland, Trenton Cleveland and fiancée, Madi Stimson; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry and Mary Scott and special niece, Courtney and Eric Weiler; brother-in-law, Frank Benninger and family; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, at Fellowship Church, 6610 36th Ave., Hudsonville, with Rev. Shawn Hulst and Bob Nyenhuis officiating. The burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Muskegon. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, October 1, from 4-7 p.m. at MKD Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville and on Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. In honor of Judy’s love for sports, please dress in your favorite sports team attire. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Trilogy Oaks of Jamestown or Interim HealthCare Hospice.
