Joyce Mary Valkema

Joyce Mary (Ringelberg) Valkema, age 91, of Grandville, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 17, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Charles; and her infant son, Craig. Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that treasured her family. She worked at the Jenison Meijer bakery for many years and was affectionately known as the “donut lady”. Over the years, she loved to travel. Many memories were made with her family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Marijo and Dennis McNally, Doug and Mary Valkema, Gayle and Doug VanderWilp; her grandchildren, Sean, Ian McNally, Joshua and Jennifer Valkema, Kyle and Emily Valkema, Caitlin and Josh Bowen, Nick and MacKenzie VanderWilp; 7 and one soon to arrive great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, William Valkema; several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday 11 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Rev. Roger Groenboom officiating.  Interment Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Community Church Memorial Fund.
