Joyce Marie Hoopfer

Mrs. Hoopfer was such a wonderful wife, mother and friend to all who knew her when she lived in Elk Rapids. I had the privilege of knowing the family and graduated with one of her sons, Barry. If a mother's legacy is expressed through her children, then Mrs. Hoopfer's legacy is especially grand. Each of the children she raised, much of it on her own because of her husband's passing at an early age, were and are like their mom--kind, caring, loving and devoted to family and friends. I remember her kindness in allowing me to join her and her family in attending church at the Island House Library when I was a teenager. She was always an example of dignity and goodness.
