Joyce Lorraine Rietema

Joyce Lorraine Rietema, age 93, of Kentwood passed into the glorious presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday January 19, 2023 with her family by her side. Joyce was born October 2, 1929 to the late Henry and Agnes Heemstra. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth A. Rietema; son-in-law, Bruce Bomers; brothers and sisters, Hollis (Mary) Heemstra, Faye Korhorn, Nancy (David) Ondersma, Tim Heemstra; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred Geers, Ben (Grace) Rietema. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Brenda (Michael) Engelsma, Bonnie (Henry III) Boyd, Barbara Bomers, Ken Rietema, Ronda (James) Slendebroek; 17 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Dolly Anne Geers; brother-in-law, Bud Korhorn; sister-in-law, Jane Heemstra; many nieces and nephews. Joyce was a member of the Southeast Protestant Reformed Church for many years. The family would like to thank Nurse Paul for his wonderful care and the staff of Faith Hospice. Memorial services will be held 12 noon on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Jacob Maatman officiating with private burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Monday from 11:30 am until 12:00 noon at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Covenant Christian High School.
