Joyce Kuipers

Joyce Kuipers, age 82, of Jenison, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 1, 2016.  It is with saddened hearts we say our earthly goodbyes to her, but we rejoice and celebrate that she is home in heaven with Jesus.  Joyce cherished her family where she enjoyed spending time and making special memories together with them.  She retired after 30 years of faithful service as a para-pro from Jenison Public Schools at Bauerwood Elementary.  Following retirement she dedicated her time volunteering at Gilda’s Club and Fair Haven Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Gertrude Wierenga; brother, Ken and Suzy Wierenga; sister, Sandra Ensing; brother-in-law, Bernie Kuipers.  She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Alvin; children, Karen and Jim Rider, Bob and Sharon Kuipers, Susan and John Domanski, Mary and Russell Povenz, Terri and Tim Boer; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom Ensing, Eileen Kuipers, Dick and Mary Kuipers; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Cambridge Manor for their love and compassionate care given to Joyce.  Funeral services will be held on Monday 11 am at Fair Haven Church, 2900 Baldwin St., Hudsonville, with Pastor Scott VanArendonk  officiating.  Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 3-6 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Monday from 10-11 am at the church prior to the service.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Gilda’s Club or Alzheimer’s Association.  Condolences may be sent online at www.mkdfuneralhome.com.
