Joyce Elaine Howk

Joyce Elaine Howk, aged 80 of Grand Rapids, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 26, 2016. She enjoyed spending time with her family having sleepovers, making popcorn, cooking, baking and she always seemed able to "make something out of nothing”. She also enjoyed working on her home and traveling to Mackinaw and Petosky. Joyce will be greatly missed by her children, Deborah and Don Brown, Sandra and Robert Lasley, Cheri and Ron Heilman, Charles A. Howk and Lisa J. Swartz; grandchildren, Carl Skinner, Christopher Skinner, Nathan Kiser, Jamie and Roger Osech; many great grandchildren; special friends, Clyde Colley, Fred Martin, Jack and Judy Bengston, Joe Martino; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Howk; parents, Arthur Bruett, Violet and Tony Wasco; sons-in-law, Carl R. Skinner and John Kiser. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wesnesday at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming, with Fr. Mike Alber celebrant. Relatives and friends may visit the family at the church one hour prior to the service. Entombment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
