In 2003 and 2004, the Andriessen home was my favorite hangout place. Always clever and perceptive, Joyce figured out very quickly that my home life was not great and she always had the door open for me. Later, when my mom walked out on my family after my high school graduation, she enthusiastically stepped in and became my mom in every way she possibly could, including caring for me after my wisdom teeth were removed and making sure I was ready for college. She was the mom who hugged me and sent me out into the world. Kirk is also friends with my younger brothers, and her home was a soft place for my brothers to land as well. Without her influence, I would not have had the courage to follow through with my plan to go to an out-of-state college. Her love, guidance, and generosity changed the trajectory of my life for the better and I am grateful every day for that. There are over 1,000 ways Joyce positively impacted me. (My favorite might be the advice that there are never enough Christmas lights on a tree) Clearly I can’t list them all here but I am truly grateful and I am so incredibly sorry for the grief her family feels as they mourn her

Rob, Becky, Matt & Kirk - Joyce was quite a lady! Full of love, humor, and kindness toward others. We had over a 40 year friendship with her and her sudden death leaves a hole in all our lives. Memories of her are cherished. Prayers continue for your family with this heartbreaking loss. "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away" Rev. 21:4

Rob, Becky, Matt and Kirk; Words cannot express how sad Wayne and I were to hear of Joyce’s passing. Even though we’re not physically down the street anymore, our hearts will always be with our neighbors; especially in times of need. Joyce departed far too soon but the work she did raising your family and serving our community will live on. We surround you all with prayers for peace and comfort. We also pray for Rob’s return to health. Most Sincerely, Wayne and

Over the course of the past few years, I have had the opportunity to get to know Joyce through her work with the city of Grandville. She had a heart for service and gave of her time and talent regularly. I am very sorry to hear of her loss and am keeping Rob and her family in my prayers. May God welcome her safely home!

Enjoying the smiling photo of you, Beth and me sitting on Beth's front porch at the Lake and the fun we had that day. Rob, thank you for fixing Beth's twirling bird. She was so happy it was spinning again. Our hearts are with you as you process this sudden loss. Very sad indeed. But happy to know that you both share the HOPE that we have in Christ. Rob, I cannot express to you my sorrow at hearing of Joyce's passing. You guys have become so dear to me these past months as I got to know you and laugh with you and plan with you. I am so glad Joyce got to see the project finished and my sons and I have come to miss you guys in our daily lives. I remember a specific conversation you and I had with Joyce saying how much she loved you, that you were one of the good ones!! Never forget that! I will miss her and her laugh, and will think of you often. I pray for peace and comfort for you as you miss your lady. She, on the other hand, is in a glorious place!! Love you, Nancy Sonnema

Rob, I am heartbroken to hear of Joyce’s passing. I so enjoyed getting to know Joyce when we served on parks and recreation and we had a blast working on the parade for years. The Grandville community is better because of her many years of volunteer work. When Joyce said she was going to do something, it got done! I will miss her and I will be thinking of you and your family.
