Joy Eileen Bush

Bush, Joy E. BUSH - Joy Eileen (Ellis) Bush, age 78, of Hastings, MI was called to our Lord, surrounded by family, May 12, 2014. She was born July 17, 1935, Cascade, MI, daughter of Owen and Winifred (Jousma) Ellis of Lowell, MI. She attended Lowell schools, graduating class of 1953. Joy married John Clifford Bush, April 16, 1953, Alaska, MI and settled in rural Barry County, MI. She spent her life dedicated to faith, family and friends, raising four boys on the farm, getting an Associate’s Degree from Kellogg Community College later in life, then through social services followed the passion of her heart helping new moms for almost 20 years ultimately to retire from Catholic Social Services. An avid all sports fan, though racing topped the list; she never missed an event when it involved her grandchildren. She enjoyed walking with friends, hauling in winter wood, canning, crocheting, reading and traveling. A champion to find a Cure for Multiple Sclerosis, a member of Community of Christ Church, Hastings, MI, and Model A Club, Grand Rapids, MI, she loved life and committed it to making better for all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Winnifred Ellis. Survived by a loving husband, companion, friend, John Bush, Hastings, MI; four sons, Greg and Deb Bush, Ludington, MI, Dennis and Nancy Bush, Hudsonville, MI, Roger and Sandy Bush, Kalamazoo, MI, Joe and Lorraine Bush, Hastings, MI; a sister, Marva and Al Andrews of Fremont, California, with bountiful blessings of (11) grandchildren, (15) great grandchildren and (1) great, great grandchild and a community of friends. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, May 21, at 11:00 am, Community of Christ Church, 8146 68th St SE, Alto, MI, US, 49302 with fellowship following.
