Joseph Russo

Russo – Joseph P. Russo aged 87 of Kentwood passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Grace Russo; son, Joseph-Michael Russo; brother, Jimmy Russo; sisters, Antoinette Banka, Mary Anne Rich, Diane Ball, parents, Joseph and Grace Russo; parents-in-law, Han and Irmgard Hufnagel.  Joseph is survived by his wife of 65 years, Irmgard Russo; daughters, Maria (Dale) Bottrall, Teresa (Henry) Maddox; grandchildren, Keri (Michael) Weber, Kristopher Bottrall, Jerry (Sarah) Hubscher, Joey (Billie Jo) Hubscher, Trisha Hubscher; great grandchildren, Callen and Charlee Weber, James, Brenden and Jenna Hubscher, Riley, Cheyenne and Dakota Anderson; brother, Michael (Regina) Russo; sister, Catherine Hamilton; aunt, Alma Russo; special friend, Mary Wu.   December of 1954 Joe Russo met Irmgard Hufnagel in Mannheim, Germany while he was serving in the Army as a chef. They were married in January and had their first daughter, Grace in October before returning to the State’s and living a full life.  He was an upholster for General Motors for 22 years.  He was also an amateur boxer on the side. Joe had a lot of people who loved him, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousin, great grandchildren and many friends.  A memorial mass will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1253 52nd St. SE, Kentwood, MI.  Family will greet relatives and friends Monday from 2:00PM to 6:00PM at Stegenga Funeral Chapel - Wyoming, 3131 S.
