J.J. Caires, age 61, of Walker, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 2, 2022. He was an outdoorsman, he loved camping and was a proud member of the Boy Scouts, Gerald R. Ford Field Counsel with his son, Alex. He also enjoyed supporting his daughter with annual Girl Scouts fishing trips. J.J. had a talent for woodworking. He enjoyed crafting his own wooden projects at home and worked for JDTI. From a young age he had a fascination for building model trains, space travel, ships, pinewood derby cars and Star Trek. J.J. was also an avid Lions and Red Wings sports fan. He also enjoyed surprise adventures up north visiting lighthouses with his family, or to the property in Baldwin. He will be greatly missed for his sense of humor, attention to detail and hard work in everything he did, and his love for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Diane Caires. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Amy Caires; children: Kristina (Adam) Caires and Alexander Caires; 4 sisters; nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, May 6, 2022 from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in remembrance of J.J. to a local state park.
