Joseph Folkerts Jr., age 89, of Jenison, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 24, 2018. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois, the son of the late Joseph and Martha Folkerts. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ellerd Folkerts and Jack Folkerts; brothers-in-law, Al Stob and Ken Bos; sisters-in-law, Florence Folkerts and Alice Stob. He is survived by his dear wife, Margaret; children, Rose and Fred Iwema, Judy and Rich Reyenga, Joe Folkerts III; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Theresa Folkerts and Paula Bos. Joseph was born on February 19, 1929. He married his wife, Margaret, on October 4, 1950, and they resided most of their married life in the Schaumburg, Illinois, area. Joseph and Margaret were members of Bethel Protestant Reformed Church in Roselle, Illinois. They moved to Jenison, Michigan, two years ago. Joseph was a member of Trinity Protestant Reformed Church in Hudsonville, Michigan. He also served in the Army National Guard. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW with Rev. Nathan Decker officiating. Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

It was a joy meeting Joseph and his loving family. I'm thankful to know he didn't linger long and is now in perfect health! Thanks for sharing him with us. I'll be praying for all of you.
