Jonathan Dale DeJonge, age 66, of Allendale, was called to his heavenly home after a four-year battle with ALS on Friday, October 16, 2020. Jon was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who cherished his family. Throughout his journey with ALS, Jon took comfort in the words of Psalm 84. He was blessed with a great sense of humor and enjoyed woodworking in his woodshop. Jon retired from SpartanNash after 38 years of faithful service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Derwin and Marian (Van Til) DeJonge; his parents-in-law, Marvin and Mary Ellen (Wanrooy) Velthouse; and his sister-in-law, Marcia DeJonge. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Sandy DeJonge; children, Jenny and Andy Van Houten, Jessica and Ryan Boluyt, Sarah and Chad Kooienga, Philip and Stacey DeJonge; 12 grandchildren; siblings, Linda and Ray Lutke, Kathi and Larry Biddle, Dan and Beth DeJonge, Mark and Chris DeJonge, Wes and Kate DeJonge, Dee and Mike Freestone. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Faith United Reformed Church, 8270 120th Ave, West Olive, with Rev. Ken Hovingh officiating. A private family burial will be held at Allendale Township Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Trinity Health at Home.

Jon was a very good friend of mine for 46 years.
He was a man of great faith and he showed it by how he lived his life. My condolences go out to his
