John Wendell Phillips

John W. Phillips, age 91, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, John (Pauline) Phillips, wife, Nadine Phillips, siblings, Bob Phillips, Helen Hankins and Sid Phillips, brother-in-law, Don Hankins. Some of John’s favorite pastimes were fishing, golfing and making trips to Punta Gorda, Florida. John will be greatly missed for his good sense of humor, compassion for others and willingness to help anyone in need, and for his love for his family and grandkids. John is survived by his wife, Marlene; children, Sherry (Mike) Myers, Tom Phillips, Lori (Scott) Waldo; step-children, Lynne (Robert) Pfund, and Brian (Theresa) Johnson; grandchildren, Kristyn (Greg) Claffey, Kevin Myers, Kyle Waldo; step-grandchildren: Olivia Pfund, Nathan Pfund, Benjamin Pfund, Nadia Pfund, Claire Pfund, William Pfund, Gabriel Pfund, Brandon Johnson, Jacob Johnson; great-grandson, Graysen Claffey; sister-in-law, Joan Phillips; sister, Dorothy (Don) Ringer; sister-in-law, Jean High and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 3, 2022 at 11a.m. at Blythefield Christian Reformed Church, 6350 Kuttshill Drive NE, Rockford with Rev. Josh Grimes officiating. Burial will take place at Plainfield Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, June 2 from 5-8p.m. at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont as well as an hour prior to the service at church.
