John Waldmiller

John Robert Waldmiller passed away on September 2, 2025, at the age of 89. He leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Marcia (Elzinga) Waldmiller; children, Kenneth and Ann Waldmiller, Gregory and Amy Waldmiller; nine grandchildren: John K. Waldmiller, Richard Waldmiller, Jennifer (Reagan) Shaefer, Nicole (Joshua) Rinzema, Aja (Anthony, Jr.) Smith, Rebecca Noel, Caleb Waldmiller, Rachel Waldmiller, and Christina Waldmiller. He was Papa John to eleven beautiful great-grandchildren, with another expected in February of 2026. John also leaves behind his brother, Raymond (Mary) Waldmiller; sisters-in-law, Margaret Waldmiller, and Joan Elzinga; and several nieces and nephews.

 John was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie Weemhoff; mother, Elizabeth Waldmiller; father and stepmother, George and Eleanor Waldmiller; sister, Elaine Kuchinskas; and brothers, Charles Waldmiller and Richard (Joan) Waldmiller.

John was the owner of John’s Meat Processing in Jenison for many years. After the shop’s closing, he continued to sell products to various customers and friends. His fondest customer was Camp Ao-Wa-Kiya in Shelby, MI to which he supplied meat for many years and where his heart truly was. He felt he was serving the Lord in this special way by allowing them to purchase at lower costs than would be found in the retail market, so that many boys and girls could attend a Christian camp to learn about Jesus.

A memorial service to celebrate John’s 90th birthday and his homegoing will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Highland Hills Baptist Church, 1415 Northrup NW, Grand Rapids, 49504. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the church starting one hour prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Camp Ao-Wa-Kiya, 8401 W. Thomas St., Shelby, MI 49455-8012.
