John W. “Bill” Roberts

ROBERTS, JOHN W. “BILL” – Allendale, Michigan, age 78. Only a sinner saved by grace, Bill was welcomed into the loving presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife, Beth (Veeneman); sons, Jeffery, Doug (Karen), Kent (Renee); stepchildren, Elizabeth (Justin) Huisman, David Gould; grandchildren, Kody (Kenzi), Heather, Kayla, Shawn, Macie, Shannel (Jeff), Talon; brother, Allen; sister, Karen (Jerry) Mulder; in-laws, Barbara Roberts, Marc (Diane) Veeneman, Joy Flanders, Glenn (Kathy) Veeneman; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Percy and Mary (Riemersma) Roberts; son, Mark; brother, Louis. Retiring after 35 years as a patternmaker, he enjoyed woodworking, hunting and caring for his rural acres. Always knowing that the number of his days on earth was ordained by his Creator, Bill endured 10 years of treatment for two incurable cancers while he and Beth traveled together, worshiped together every Sunday, enjoyed times with family and friends, and kept the binoculars handy for viewing the birds and wild animals around their home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2018 at Hudsonville Reformed Church, 3950 Highland Drive. Interment Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday, September 30, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale), 6651 Scott Street, and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Holland Rescue Mission or Van Andel Institute.
