Margaret, I was so saddened to hear that John went to be with his heavenly father. John was kind, a good story teller, a legend at The Salvation Army, a great fundraiser and advisor, but above all he was a child of God and he lived it each and every day. You will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. If there is anything you need please do not hesitate to ask for help. The entire Salvation Army Board is here for you.

Dorothy and I were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of John’s death. He was a faithful, loyal, always helpful friend in addition to being a very competent professional employee for the Army. We appreciated him personally and in our work as officers. We will be praying for you, Margaret.

John’s generosity of spirit and support are irreplaceable for me in the workplace. And his sense of humor and care leave a large, gaping hole as a friend. I truly miss him and pray that his loved ones (Margaret especially) are comforted with the peace of Christ.

John was my client. I have worked with many clients over the years. You know the old saying “I love all my children equally.” Well, I loved all my clients equally — but some more equally than others. And John was one of the special ones. One-of-a-kind and always a joy to be with. He probably had a trivia question for St. Peter at the pearly gate. John, you leave a gaping hole in our hearts.

Margaret….John was a good friend, mentor, co-laborer, consultant, yes with fundraising and strategic planning, but more a life coach who understood and cared for people, their work, their families, their ministries. Please know of our love and encouragement to you that although gone from earth, is walking into the specific room that God has prepared and promises for all of us! Hugs from east coast to you and family. John is and will be missed! Prayers…

There won’t be an October 9th go by without thinking fondly of John. He always reminded us to celebrate Leif on this day. 😊 John was one of the most generous and witty people I’ve ever known. I’m so grateful that he was a part of my life. <3

I am so saddened by the passing of John. I admired him for his faith and his service to God and The Salvation Army. He was always a kind and caring person to be around–super smart and fun. I enjoyed the brief time I worked directly with him over twenty years ago, and my association with him recently as a volunteer. He will be missed.
