June 13, 1982 ~
January 21, 2023

John T. Rich, age 40, of Wyoming, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, January 21, 2023. John graduated from East Kentwood High School in 2000 and served four years in the U.S. Navy. John met his wife, Carla, while serving on board the USS Carl Vinson, and they married in 2005. Shortly after, they moved to Michigan where they spent the next 17 years and had their son, Landon who was the pride and joy of his life. John worked for Grandville Public Schools for 14 years and was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Parish. He was a golf fanatic, die-hard Detroit Lions fan, and talented bowler, bowling his first 300 game when he was 30 years old. Every deer hunting season and almost every summer was spent in Escanaba, Michigan where he cherished time with his family, hunting, grilling, and watching sports. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his genuine friendships and infectious laugh. John’s ability to find joy and radiate positivity in everything he did was an inspiration to many. He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Rich; father-in-law, Rolando Rodas; grandparents, Richard and Barbara Helgemo, Vernon and Lucille Rich; and nephew, Richard Rich. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 17 years, Carla; son, Landon Rich; mother, Dianne Rich; mother-in-law, Eugenia Rodas; brother, Chad (Amanda) Rich; sister-in-law, Bianca (Jorge) Rios; niece, Madison Rich, and nephew, Joaquin Rios; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Grandville High School Auditorium, 4700 Canal Ave SW, Grandville. Relatives and friends may meet the family prior to the service starting at 10 am at the school. In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions to the Glioblastoma Foundation.
