Our sincere sympathy to all John's loved ones, especially to Judy, his dear wife. May the great Comforter give you much peace and comfort your hearts with joy in our resurrected Lord, Jesus Christ. What great hope is ours in him! As a side note: Mr Kalsbeek was by far my favorite teacher. I am forever in debt to him for his insistence of us learning many verses of many Psalter numbers at Doon school. I carry them in my heart with joy! Mary Lou Vermeer

Dear Kalsbeek family, We rejoice that your loved one, and our dear friend, no longer battles the pain and trials of this life. We sorrow with you and commend you to God's care. Those with heavy burdens He grants rest and peace. I am thankful that in Mr. Kalsbeek's last visit to Doon some years ago I took the opportunity to tell him personally that aside from my father, no other person on earth had the positive, spiritual affect on me that he had. He was a faithful, favorite teacher that truly lived his confession. He loved to sing. He was the grade school play ground quarterback and pitcher.... It's a long story, but he is the reason that often during the pheasant season yet today I pick up my sxs shotgun (like his) gather my 2 boys, and we chase a female Springer Spaniel around the country flushing long tailed birds. Just like we did with Bella four decades ago. The last time I talked to him was at his son's wedding in Hull. We spoke for 15 minutes. We could have talked for an hour. So many good memories. I hope to see him again one day. God bless. Perry Van Egdom

Dear Kalsbeek Family, We want to let all of you know that we are praying for you. We appreciated your dear husband, father and grandfather so much, for his devotion as a teacher. What stands out the most is his smile and kindness even through his physical pain and suffering. He will be remembered fondly by all of his students and their parents. May God comfort all of you as HE alone can. Kathy Knott
