John J. Hoelsema Sr.

John J. Hoelsema Sr., age 83, of Grandville, went to be with His Lord on Saturday, July 2, 2016. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Annette; baby boy Hoelsema; son-in-law, Jim Anton; sister, Betty Vredvoogd; brother, Pete; sister-in-law, Mary Hoelsema; brothers-in-law, Bert Frens, Herb Ulrich. John is survived by wife of 63 years, Joan; children, Vicki and Ed Shattuck, John and Karen Hoelsema, Marianne Anton, Terry and Ruth Ann Hoelsema, Joni and Lee Hiler, Anne and Kris Brandt. 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Pat Frens and Jean Ulrich. Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 7, 2016 11:00 am at South Grandville Christian Reformed Church, 4130 Wilson Ave. Grandville MI with Dr. Daniel Mouw officiating. Interment Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home 4145 Chicago Dr. Grandville 49418 and 10:00-11:00 am at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association.

I am very sad to hear that Uncle John passed away. It was so unexpected. I mentioned to Mom that John had fallen ill and want to be very circumspect about telling her the whole story. She would be very sad to hear of her little brother's passing. May God be with you at this sad time. Loving regards, David.
