John Frederick Padgett

Padgett, John Frederick PADGETT: John Frederick Padgett, age 80, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. John was a pastor in the Reformed Church for many years and served the following churches: First Reformed Church of Piermont, NY from 1963 to 1969, Doster Reformed Church of Doster, MI from 1969 to 1984, Pine Rest Christian Hospital from 1984 to 1985, and Fair Haven Ministries from 1986 to 1996 where he continued to be actively involved as visiting pastor for many years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn; their children, Derek Padgett, Nancy and Tom Ooms; grandchildren, Derek II, Nathan; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Martha Padgett, Nick Havinga, Sena and Bob Bonnette; several nieces and nephews. A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, March 18 from 2-5 pm at Fair Haven Ministries, 2900 Baldwin St., Hudsonville, please use door E and F. Memorial services will be held 11 am on Tuesday, April 3 at Fair Haven Ministries, with Pastor Gary Van Koevering officiating. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.

The congregation of Piermont Reformed Church is saddened by the news of our former pastor's passing. We offered prayers for Marilyn and the family at worship this morning. During coffee hour, a surprising number of stories were told, reflecting fond memories of John's ministry here, which began nearly 50 years ago. We send our love to all of you as you mourn John's passing and celebrate his coming home to God. Rev. John W. VandenOever
