Remembering John Frank Teague

John Frank Teague, 77, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 21, 2026. John was born on January 11, 1949, in Richmond, Virginia, but grew up in Michigan.  He graduated from Baldwin High School before attending the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point (Acta Non Verba, meaning “Deeds Not Words”). After graduation he tried his hand at a few things, including offshore oil drilling before settling into sales.

John built a successful career in sales management, where he was respected for his knowledge, integrity, and ability to connect with people. Those who worked alongside him knew him as someone who led with confidence, thoughtful (all be it direct) advice, and an unwavering commitment to doing things the right way. Standing 6 feet 5 inches tall, John was a larger-than-life presence in every sense. In his younger years, he was remarkably strong, but those who knew him best understood that his greatest strengths were his sharp mind, generous heart, and steadfast devotion to his family. He was exceptionally intelligent, a trusted source of wisdom, and someone whose family could always depend on for guidance and support.

Above all else, John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared more than fifty years of marriage with the love of his life, Yvonne Teague, building a life rooted in love, commitment, and family. Together they created a home where their children and grandchildren always knew they were welcomed and loved. John is survived by his beloved wife, Yvonne Teague; his son, Joseph (Kristle) Teague; his grandchildren, Anthony Teague and Angelina Teague; his older brother, Jim Teague; and his younger sister, Joan House. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacqueline Teague, and his parents, Jack and Marian Teague.

Although John's accomplishments were many, those closest to him will remember him most for the example he set. His love for his family, his strength of character, his wisdom, and his quiet generosity will continue to guide those who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the family who will forever carry his memory forward.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2230 Lake Michigan Dr. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504 with Fr. Hunter Ostapowicz presiding. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Saturday from 9:30-10:45 am at the church prior to the Mass. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. The family asks that John be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for the kindness he showed, the wisdom he shared, and the enduring love he gave to his family and friends.
