John Francis Maher

John “Jack” Maher, age 92, of Rockford, was peacefully called home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Jack was a kind and loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa who dearly loved his family. Jack proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard stationed both in Boston, MA and later in Charlevoix, MI. He was blessed with a determined spirit and a servant’s heart. Over the years he gave of his time and talents in many ways at school, his church, and the Red Cross. Jack was a master plumber and was the former owner of Maher Plumbing for many years.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 71 years, Beverly Maher; children, Larry and Jeanne Maher, Lori Maher; grandchildren, Sara and Ben Merritt, Lisa and Tyler Funk, Michael and Tracy Maher, Jennifer Twyman, Shelly DeRosia, Jeffery and Alyssa Twyman; 13 great-grandchildren; Cole, Esther Merritt, Mike, Moriyah Funk, Samuel, Jordan Maher, Madison, Matthew Twyman, Taylor, Brooke DeRosia, Cora, Jonathan, Ryan Twyman. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Mar 27, 2022at 3pm at River Rock Church, 6060 Belding Road NE, Rockford with Pastor Bill Flavin officiating. A private family burial service will be held at Rockford Cemetery on Monday. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 2-3 pm prior to the service at the church.
