John Esser

John B. Esser, age 95, of Sentinel Pointe, formerly of Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2024. John was a kind and loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and great-great-grandpa who was blessed with the gift of conversation and a great sense of humor. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. John retired from Reynolds Metals after 35 years of faithful service. Following retirement, he volunteered his time in many ways including the Arthritis Foundation and the Association for the Blind. John’s love for serving and helping people was evident to all who knew him. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Barb Esser; children, Ruth and Ty Mason, Susan and Ken Palm, Bob and Carolyn Esser, Jim and (Penny-deceased) Esser, Tim Esser, Chris Esser (Deb); many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Boersen, Sharon Fox; several loving nieces and nephews; and very dear friend, Kelli Koss. Entombment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will hold a celebration of John’s life on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Sentinel Pointe, 2900 Thornhills Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Arthritis Foundation or to the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
