John Daniel Eisenga, age 63, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Gertrude Eisenga.  He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters, Bernard (Mary Beth), Henry (Ila Mae), Helen (Eric) Hansen, Mary Kay (John) Petersen, Linda (Mike) Carlson, many nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank the caregivers and residents at Elmhurst Home for the loving care they provided for John.  He was a special needs person with an incredible vocabulary and a love of reading.  During an outing John was able to slip away and meet Grand Rapids Mayor Lyman Parks.  John wanted to be a preacher or broadcaster and was able to fulfill his dream when he was asked to say the Morning Prayer at Hope Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7 at 10 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Interment Graceland Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the funeral home prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hope Network.

John was like family to me. I worked at HN Elmhurst since 2000 & spacifically 1 on 1 with John since his retirement from NWC until my retirement from HN this past July. We made lots of happy memories together & experienced many good times in the commumity. I will never forget John. I am sorry for your loss but rejoice in heavens gain! John is happy & with his parents, Jesus & the angels now.

To the Eisenga family, I am so sorry for your loss. Words cannot describe the incredible amount of pain you may be feeling right now. I know words can only work so much at this time, but please allow gods word to comfort you at this time. Isaiah 26:19 says: "Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully, you residents in the dust! The earth will let those powerless in death come to life" This is one of many scriptures that talk about a resurrection of our dead loved ones right to this earth! What a beautiful thought to see our loved ones again! Please know that I am thinking about you and your family at this difficult time. Sincerely Caleb Aniol Jworg
