John Dumas

John E. Dumas, age 73, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister, 2 brothers. Surviving are his life partner of 19 years, Gail Marzean; children, Kim (Tim) VanHoven, John T. Dumas, Rob (Marlene) Kline, Rick (Cris) Kerber, Annette (Mark) Karsten, Amanda (Rob) Bailey, Major Mark (Rewa) Dumas; 18 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Louis (JoAnn) Dumas; sister, Margaret Shannon; 2 great aunts; and 1 great uncle. John was born in Muskegon and spent most of his life in Wyoming, Michigan. He was an active member of American Legion #208 and also a member of Moose Lodge, Eagles and AMVETS. He was an extremely intelligent man who worked 46 years at Lear Siegler as an electronics technician, possessing numerous technical certifications in support of our country's defense and space programs. He will be missed by his many friends, family and golf partners. A Memorial Service to celebrate John's life will be held on Friday, October 4 at 5 pm at American Legion #208, 133 - 44th Street SE, Kentwood. The family will greet relatives and friends from 3 to 5 pm at the American Legion #208 on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
