John Jones, age 66, of Caledonia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 11, 2026. 

He will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life, Amy Paas; his daughter, Shannon and Brad Ybema; Amy’s son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Beth Kurtz; step grandsons, Devin Kurtz and Liam Kurtz, who called him “Papa John”; his mother, Lourie Heintzelman; siblings, Jim Jones, Dawn Jones, Kim and Jim Merklinger, and Mike Jones. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Jones; brother, Robert Jones; and sister, Tammy Colvin. 

John was born on July 9, 1960, in Grand Rapids, MI. He was raised on his family's farm in Alto, MI and graduated from Caledonia High School. After graduating, John spent 42 years working at Westinghouse/Knoll. He loved the outdoors especially fishing and spending time at the cottage with the love of his life Amy Paas of 32 years. John also enjoyed woodworking and taking pride in what he created. Above all he treasured time spent with the people he loved and the memories along the way. 

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Mike Beaulieu officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family one hour prior to the start of the service from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be held at Bowne Center Cemetery.
