Longtime resident of Grand Rapids, John Casimier Fras, born February 3, 1932 in South Bend, Indiana went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 46 years, Delores (Lake) Fras, parents, Frank and Rose (Zuk) Fras, father-in-law, Donald (Jean) Lake, mother-in-law, Margaret (Spaulding) Lake, brother, Stanley (Bobbi-Lou) Fras, sisters, Veronica (Dr. George) Slagle, Delores (Al) Defreuw, brothers-in-law, Donnie E. Lake and Jack Lake. He will be greatly missed by his children, Darlene (Greg Wallace), Marie Fras Cribari, Donna Fras, Valarie (Bob Stuewe), Rose (Larry Botsford), John (Julie) Fras; eight loving grandchildren, Jason (Angela) Howland, Jennifer (Heath) Carew, Anthony Cribari, Ryan (Kailey) Fras, Stefanie Stuewe, Kristen (Parker) Jones, Bobbi Jo Botsford, Sydney Stuewe; step-children, Tracy (Jay) Hamilton, Bryan (Shelly) Wallace; nine wonderful great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Bill (Mary) Richardson, Gary (Sue) Lake, Joe (Linda) Lake; many nieces and nephews; his long time companion, Dixie Leggett. John was a Korean War Veteran and an active member of American Legion Post 179, as an Honorary Lifetime Member. He gave generously of his time to the “Make A Wish Foundation.” He leaves behind many friends at Post 179. A Catholic Service of Burial will be held 10am Monday at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. John’s family will meet relatives and friends Sunday 2-5pm at the funeral home and also Monday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the “Make A Wish Foundation” in John’s name can be made at American Legion Post 179.
