John Allen Balkon

John Allen Balkon, age 69, of Grandville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 4, 2018. He was an Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War and worked for many years at Kutsche’s Hardware. John was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Balkon; father, Earl Balkon; stepmother, Johan Balkon. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Gail; his children, Melissa Balkon, Eric and Kathryn Balkon; 14 brothers and sisters, Patty Bialek, Linda and Jack Flory, Janet VanderLaan, Dennis and Pat Balkon, David and Karen Tonning, Cathy and Mike Popowich, Richard Tonning, Christine Tonning, Bernie and Tracey Tonning, Judy and Dale Briggs, Carol Polich, Karin and Russ Chudy, James Balkon, Stacy and Gary Loew; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018, at Hope Christian Reformed Church, 3110 Barrett Street SW, Grandville, with Rev. Dale Fopma officiating. Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive SW.
