Johanna Bomers

Johanna (Engelsma) Bomers, age 92, of Walker, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday morning, June 16, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Jay Bomers, in 1979; her daughter, Heidi Baas, in 1997; and her son, Bruce Bomers, in 2013. She is survived by her children, Carol and Bill Huber, Barbara Bomers, Lori and John Schipper, Phil and Renae Baas, Tim and Brenda Bomers, Brenda and Tom DeVries; 29 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren (4 in glory); 2 great great-grandchildren; her last remaining brother-in-law, Gordon Terpstra; and many loving nieces and nephews. Johanna was a charter member of the Protestant Reformed Churches of America. She was the last survivor of her ten siblings. The family wishes to thank Palliative Care through Holland Home and Faith Hospice for the loving and special care shown to Johanna and her family. A private committal service will be held for the family with Rev. David Overway officiating. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Grace Protestant Reformed Church, 11225 8th Ave. NW, Grand Rapids, with her nephew, Professor David Engelsma officiating.  Interment will be held at Washington Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Christian High School.
