Joe Wiebenga Jr.

Mr. Joe Wiebenga Jr., aged 80 passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his grandson, Joey Brunsink; his parents and 10 siblings. 

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Joan; daughters, Denise (Chad) Brunsink, Tammy (David) Larink; grandchildren, Dan (Stephanie) Brunsink, Katie Larink, Emily Brunsink, Annie (JJ) Butts, Betsy (Joe) Richardson, Abbey Brunsink; great grandchildren, Max Butts, Weston and Theodore Richardson, Lily Brunsink; sisters, Marilyn Wiebenga McCoin, Joan Wiebenga Babcock; brother, Charles (Barbara) Belk; sister-in-law, Joanne Wiebenga; brothers-in-law, Ray Boogaard and Ray Bordeaux; also surviving are Joan’s siblings and their spouses; numerous nieces and nephews. 

Joe retired from the City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department after 38 years of service.  He proudly served in the National Guard.  Joe loved his Lord and Savior and shared his faith with others openly and often.  He was an avid woodworker using his skills to make many things including cabinets, furniture and the wood flooring in his own home.  He was also a storyteller, keeping family memories alive and entertaining all who were willing to listen.

Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Magnify Church Northview Campus, 4162 Hunsberger Ave. NE., with visitation one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday.  Memorial contributions in Joe’s memory may be made to Faith Hospice or the Missionary Fund at Magnify Church.  To share a photo, memory and sign the family’s online guestbook please visit www.stegengafuneralchapel.com
