Jody Drew Berens, age 63, of Allendale, lost her fight to cancer on the evening of October 21, 2017. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harlan and her parents, Mary and Oscar “Buck” Everett. She joined her husband in eternity on Sweetest Day. She will be dearly missed by her only daughter, Leah (Eric) Scholten; two cherished granddaughters, Norah and Harper; brother, Mike (Lorraine) Everett; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dorothy and Thomas Peterson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harley and Carol Berens; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends. Jody will always be remembered as a wonderful daughter, mother, sister, wife, nannie, and friend. She was a listening ear to many friends and family members. Jody left an imprint on the hearts of all who knew her, as she was a strong woman of faith. Her favorite things to do included bird watching, reading, making memories in her cozy home with family and friends, and playing games and snuggling with her granddaughters. Jody was greatly cared for throughout her cancer journey by the staff at Georgetown Physicians, the Urology Team at Holland Hospital, the staff at the University of Michigan, Allendale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and Hospice of Holland. A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 25 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of Holland.

I will always cherish the times with her wonderful smile at the salon and the times she opened her home to us Bible Study ladies. She was a pleasure to know. Many hugs and prayers to her family.
