Remembering Joan Zichterman
Joan Irene Zichterman, age 74, of Allendale, was called home to be with Jesus on Saturday, October 31, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Joan had a kind and loving heart, always making others feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. She genuinely loved people and took a sincere interest in those around her, finding joy in simply loving others and making meaningful connections. Her family was especially dear to her, and she cherished the time they spent together. Over the years, Joan also shared a special love for her animals and found enjoyment in working in her yard. Her warmth, kindness, and love for others will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Gene Zichterman; sister-in-law, Barb Vissers; and niece, Sheri Robertson. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Angela and Jason Holthof, Michelle and Derek Torno; grandchildren, Taylor and Max Winkel, Katie Holthof and fiancé, Aidan Scott, Zachary Torno, and Natalie Torno; brothers and sister-in-law, Brian and Esther Vissers, Phil Vissers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rick and Joan Zichterman, Ron Zichterman, Nancy Zichterman; and many nieces and nephews. The burial will be held at Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, November 11, from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
