I met Jessica in September of 2010. I had moved to Grand Rapids to attend law school. I had never been to Michigan before I drove into town for student orientation. I had arranged for housing but it turned out to be not a good fit and I found myself desperate for a place to live for myself and my new puppy. A friend from school who knew Jessica hooked us up and Jessica offered me a place to live. Jessica was an incredible roommate and classmate, teammate on the National Mock Trial Team, and friend. I will forever miss our great times together going to classes, studying, studying, and more studying. In our down time we would go to movies, cook, go shopping, take the dog for walks, and enjoy talking and laughing and, at times, crying together. Jessica was an exceptional student and she helped me get through law school. The law came quite easy to her, but not a much for me, so she was my rock, my tutor, my sounding board. Jessica was so smart and so giving. She is one of the best people I have ever known. I will miss Jess so much and hope that she is resting in the joy that is being with our God and Savior Jesus Christ. To Tracy, Brian, your families and to Jess's daughters and grandchildren, I pray for your peace and comfort. I pray that you will know that Jessica lives again. I will always treasure the time I spent with you and your families. All my Love, Desiree Martin

It is so sad to hear about Jessica. I passed on her information to the ladies that I keep in touch with from Third Timmer at Calvin University. We were roommates there for two years. She was a sweet, kind, loyal friend. She made the long trip down to Ann Arbor for my wedding in 2006. Wish we had kept more in touch. Glad she is still a believer and hope to see you up there. May God give love and comfort to you, Brian and Tracy and the rest of your family. Love and hugs —— Melissa Getz

Our family and firm extend our heartfelt condolences to the Yarch family during this time of profound loss. The passing of a beloved sister, aunt, and foster mother is felt deeply by all who were touched by her love and kindness. May you find comfort in the cherished memories you hold and strength in the support of those around you. There aren't many ladies that are brave enough to try Judo, but Jessica was one of them. I remember her in my class that my husband and I taught in Alpena. She was able to earn 2 belts. It was a rough sport and she did well. We are sorry to hear of her loss in this world. She was a kind spirit.

I got to know Jessica after I started attending Word of Life Baptist Church in Alpena, Michigan. She was a great friend to me while I lived there and her family often invited me to spend time with them after I got to know her and them better. I have fond memories of the times we served together at the teen ministry, at the church and playing board games or cards at each other’s houses. She was a wonderful person, and I know God used her to impact many lives during her time here. She will be greatly missed.
