Jerome “Jerry” Rogers

September 1, 1942 ~
November 21, 2025

Jerome "Jerry" Charles Rogers, of Coopersville, ran into the arms of Jesus on November 21, 2025, at the age of 83. Jerry lived life to the fullest and touched the lives of many with his profound faith, sense of humor, and love of family and friends. Born to Charles and Jesena Rogers on September 1, 1942, he grew up working on farms, loved milking the cows, won several first-place awards at local rodeos and graduated from Coopersville High School. He married Lois Dodge, and had one son, Kyle. He was in the army in Vietnam from 1966-1968 and served until 1972. He later married Charlene (Berends) in 1994 and happily acquired a “bonus” family: daughter, Amy; son, Joe; several in-laws that he calls his best friends along with several nieces and nephews. As a believer in Jesus, he was happy to share his faith with all he came in contact with. He and his wife attend Life Stream Church in Allendale where they have met several great friends. He loved keeping himself busy and you would rarely find him sitting unless it was to play cards with friends. Among his favorite hobbies were: gardening/landscaping, collecting and cleaning/waxing custom cars, demolition derbies, motorcycle trips, traveling/camping, spending time with and educating his grandkids. He was a great entrepreneur and bought/sold several companies over the years. He retired in 2015 from the most recent business, AMI, which is now a 3rd generation family-owned company. He is survived by his wife, Charlene; son, Kyle (Keri) Rogers of Coopersville; daughter, Amy (Brad) Wade of Six Lakes; son, Joe Moore of Howard City; grandkids: Darren, Dustin (Sophie), Madison, and Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol; and half-brother, Jerry. Life Lessons from Jerry: Work hard and save your money, Negotiate well, Be honest, Never give up, and Follow Jesus so he will be able to see you all again in Heaven. His family would like to thank his nurse Michelle and Pastor Dave from Faith Hospice for all their support. Per Jerry’s wishes, he did not want a “funeral” but a “Celebration of Life”. We invite you to join us in remembering him on Tuesday, November 25, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf, 6651 Scott St., Allendale. Visitation will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Life Stream Church.

I wish to express my sincere sympathy to the family, he was a life time friend and we attended school together. He was always upbeat and I will miss him.
