Jennifer Mae McCormick

July 24, 1975 ~
July 20, 2022

Jennifer Mae McCormick, age 46, raised in Caledonia and local to Kalamazoo, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.

Jennifer was a kind and gentle soul. She was very talented and artistic in her career and hobbies. She took great pride in her interior design degree from Kendall College and her time as an interior designer at a Kalamazoo architectural firm. She then used her talents as an architectural sales rep, most recently with Mohawk Industries, connecting with and supporting designers across Michigan. Jennifer’s latest hobby was painting with watercolors, but she could do it all. Her talents were evident in the home she and Matt designed, built, decorated, and shared. They enjoyed returning to the home they admired after long walks with their dog Mae. Animals held a special place in her heart, especially dogs. Jennifer loved being surrounded by nature, both locally and afar. Her favorite trip was to Yosemite National Park, which she described as simply breathtaking.

Most of all, Jennifer loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed studying her ancestral tree and was proud of her heritage. She will be laid to rest near her grandparents, who she loved dearly. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. She will be lovingly remembered by the love of her life of over 20 years, Matt McGinnis; his family; her parents, Mike and Patsy McCormick; brother and sister-in-law, Shawn and Kristin McCormick; nieces and nephews, Samantha, Owen, Davis, Flora; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. There will be a private graveside service at Lakeside Cemetery.

Contributions in memory of Jennifer may be made to organizations she passionately supported, Kalamazoo Animal Rescue or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. http://www.kalamazooanimalrescue.org/helpus.php https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html?frequency_selected=2&sc_icid=mem-lp-donate-bttn-top

Shawn and family, I am so very sorry for your loss. Reading your sister's abbreviated bio it seems like she would be someone I would have had a lot in common with. May your memory of her and all the good times you shared carry you through this difficult time until you meet again.

Jen, we are family and Facebook friends although we never met in person. We share an interest in art, animals, family history, the Northern Lights, and natural science. (I hope you had a chance to see those photos from the Webb telescope before you joined the cosmos.) To your family, Mike and Patsy, Matt and Mae, nieces, and nephews; to those who went before you, especially Don and Lucille; and to everyone you touched with your generous heart, my deepest sympathy.

Gosh Jen, What a shinning star. You lit up every conversation and every room you entered. Being a friend to any and everyone. And helping me as a new designer many years ago with your kind and soothing demeanor was just what I needed when I had No idea where to start. I will miss you sweet friend. Your kindness, your warmth, your willingness to always help and you always did it with that beautiful smile on your face. We were all better humans to have known you. 💜
