Jeff Freeman

Lt. Jeff Freeman, age 59, of Grandville, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, Sgt. William Freeman. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Sarah Freeman, Rachel and Derek Jansen; mother, Nancy Freeman; brothers, Kevin and Amy Freeman, Kurt and Lisa Freeman; sister, Karen and Joel Hanenburg; and many nieces, nephews, friends and Brothers in Brown. Jeff proudly served our community as a member of the Kent County Sheriff’s Department for over 28 years. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time at his cottage on the lake. Jeff also loved making people laugh and his sense of humor will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 3 PM at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 3-8 PM and Tuesday 2-3 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Thin Blue Line, the charity for families of fallen officers.

I've known Jeff for 20+ years as he was very close to our family and friends up at the lake. My dad and I shared many great hunting stories together with Jeff and he will be sorely missed. The lake community will never be the same. May you Rest In Peace my friend.
