Jay J. Zahran

August 11, 1960 ~
March 6, 2024

Jay J. Zahran, age 63, of Byron Center, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. He began his family and career in New Jersey, working as a biochemical engineer for major pharmaceutical companies. That career also began his love of traveling the world. He later switched gears and became a financial advisor in his 40’s to help clients meet their goals. He seemed to turn clients into friends and later they became an extension of his family because of his passion for people and relationships. Jay also loved gardening, biking, walking, and traveling with Luna. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Luna; children, Jenean (Adam) McLoskey, Marcus (Autumn) Zahran, Ryan (Jessica) Zahran; first grandchild coming soon; sister, Amber (Angelo) Ianiri; brother, Ned (Abeer) Zahran; sister-in-law, Suna (Maher) Harb; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jamil and Nawal Zahran. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 2371 Riley St., Hudsonville, with Rev. Aaron Meares officiating. Entombment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. on Friday, March 15 at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held Saturday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages memorial contributions may be made to Compassion In Jesus Name (www.compassion.com).

Dearest Luna, Our hearts were saddened when we heard that Jay lost his battle to cancer. After many years of stuggle, the Lord called him home where he is at peace and comfort. We have many fond memories of having you, Jay and your dog to our home for visits. Jay had such a warm spirit and kind heart - we loved spending time with you both. We are keeping you in our thought and prayers. Sincerely, Jack and Gerry Thornton

I just want to give my condolences to Luna and her family. Jay was more than my financial advisor, He was my mentor and friend. Jay was patient and kind teaching me about all the different ways to make your money work for me and bringing and explaining everything as we went along that path. I really enjoyed all the conversations about life, family, religion and politics. Jay will be missed and the real joy is knowing that he is in heaven and no longer in pain. Rest in peace

Luna our deepest sympathy goes out to you and the Family during these difficult times. Jay will be greatly missed and was a friend as well as being our Financial Advisor for over 18 years. He was our go to person for advise on getting family and final planning set up. Jay was also a great help with my mother with her Financial planning. When we came in for annual review he always had time to discuss family and see how both ours and yours were doing, we always talked politics and shared our views on the times we were in. I know how concerned he was with all his clients making sure he was doing the best of his ability to reach their personal goals. Jay was a wonderful person and I know he is in a better place and although we will all miss him, his Faith in God just confirms to me it is goodbye for now however we will see you again shortly.

Jay was more than a financial advisor to our family. He was a great friend that I could call and talk with and get advice during the last 18 years of my working career. We talked about our kids and life. Yes these are things you talk about in the office but these were outside conversations that went deeper and not just financial talk. Jay was taking care of 3 generations of our family at one point starting with my parents (who if I am not mistaken where his first clients). I am so happy that Jay is free of the pain of cancer and is rejoicing in Heaven with his Lord and Savior! We pray for God's comfort to Luna and the family and rejoice in knowing that they have memories of a very great husband, father and friend. Ken & Lynnette Koster

I am blessed to have known Jay and Luna through our Edward Jones family. Jay always had a smile and an offer to help as I began my career 20 years ago. I appreciated his generosity and care. He will be missed by all who knew him. Luna my prayers are with you and your family, our deepest sympathies to all of you. We are leaving out of the country today and will not be able to attend Jay's visitation or funeral but know we are with you in Spirit. May you feel God's presence and his Peace.
